all right so here's we're going to get
our stuff rule and that is our setup and
preferences so this is what my Ableton
project looks like when I started up and
you will definitely not be seeing this
when you start yours up this is a way
for all my gear MIDI outboard whatever
to all communicate and I have all my
tracks ready to go so I don't have to
manually set them up every time I open
live and I have my EQ and compressor
down to the bottom for each track so I
have it set up if you if you have the
exact same setup as me you probably have
it set up kind of similar well yeah so
when you open Ableton what we'll do is I
will just close all these guys cut and
then you'll have some audio and a MIDI
track and to sense I believe or
something so this is what it'll look
like for you most likely it looked like
this probably so we're going to want to
do is you want to go to your preferences
this is this is really important this is
the first thing that you want to do
depending on your driver type if you
have like an interface like the audio
six when I say interface I mean sound
card when I say sound Crimea interface
you want one of those you can have enemy
DirectX that's Windows that's like you
know like YouTube and all that on fun
audio stuff that's that driver type and
you can select that and that works fine
for the time being if you're on a Mac
you want to select core audio and quarry
audio is fine you select your device now
I have two devices technically three
you're going to want to make sure that
your interface for one has the correct
drivers installed or the latest drivers
installed depending on what that is I
can't do that for you because all
interfaces are different I'm sure your
local music shop will happily help you
figure this out but yeah I have my
complete audio six and I have a zero as
you know it is low latency IO so it
sends and receives audio
super quickly it was developed by
Steinberg I believe and that's what I
use and it offers very low latency 17 in
nineteen milliseconds which is pretty
good and I have a high buffer size
because you know I'm weird but we'll get
into that later if you are feeling
adventurous you can go to google and
type in as you a sio4 like numeral for a
ll as do for all and that is a generic
SEO driver for your onboard audio on
your PC from the back of your PC so you
can have that same thing only thing is
is you you can only use one application
at a time so if you have this video open
in this plan audio you won't be able to
hear anything you have to close it and
then select SEO in Ableton or completely
relaunch Ableton for SEO to work a lot
of drivers they support more than one
what you call it you support more than
one client so I have I can have multiple
clients I can have a YouTube video
playing using enemy whatever DirectX and
have Ableton outputting sound at the
same time this is not part of Ableton
this is my audio six control panel again
all all audio drivers are different from
all manufacturers when one's a kind of
mind a Native Instruments
em audio avid Apogee depends ask your
local music store guys and they'll set
you up right quick
yeah again in the audio tab we'll get to
that later sampling sample rate 44.1 K
or 44100 Hertz that is CD quality CD
quality audio
48 is DVD you want to have this set to
this setting you want to leave it there
you want to mess around with that you're
going to want high quality and you can
always over sample the
um your buffer size so depending on your
driver's for your particular product you
want to have a muck around with the
buffer size it might be here and it
might be in this kind of engine here I
don't want to blow up I can't change it
but yeah it's it's in a it's in samples
so 512 is pretty good I have it set to
that that's that's pretty high but
that's just kind of what I'm used to
because I run so many audio chains and
all that fun stuff
128 could work and yeah that just
depends so if you are having pops and
clicks increase the sample or buffer
size right and you can test you can test
if you're getting any clicks so what
this is is this is a latency checker pop
click whatever so it does is it
simulates the CPU switch so you've max
the CPU usage set the tone to whatever
you can hear it right and if you don't
hear any clicks
then you're good if you start to hear
like clicking and popping then you're
going to have to increase your buffer
size so that was kind of a long wooded
long winded video and all that but it's
really important for you to get proper
audio so yeah don't yeah it depends as
zo is the way to go Mme it's kind of
laggy but it works as well if this
increase the the buffer size if you have
very large projects using 80 percent of
your CPU usage quote-unquote CPU usage
and you're getting pops this will this
will simulate it so yeah that's pretty
