so guys some brief is going to show you
how to get your MIDI controllers to work
in Ableton MIDI controllers they
transmit data from the actual controller
itself to your computer via MIDI and
that MIDI can be a five-pin MIDI cable
or a USB cable right so what you want to
do is go to your preferences MIDI and
sync so I have my push it depends on
what you're using there's scripts
available for a lot of things all these
different things you select that and the
scripts work automatically automatically
I should say my house will have my limit
base so for dinosaur gear that uses
conventional five pin medium I have a
synthesizer here and I have the MIDI out
from the out to the input on my
interface here and that would be my
complete audio six input yeah track so I
have this and this will have it set if I
have a song it will receive MIDI right
so what I can do is I can press a key
and you'll notice that this little light
comes on this is your MIDI in indicator
right see a little light coming on I'm
pressing buttons and it's receiving MIDI
and it's receiving MIDI to what I point
to this MIDI channel here and you can
see it and it has velocity and all that
fun stuff right I also have push and it
automatically receives MIDI as well so
you have MIDI being received soft knobs
and everything that's for your macros
now we're not going to track that but it
it that's the Ableton script and that
make sure that you know you have
everything is talking with Ableton
correctly you probably won't have as
much gear as me if I can say that humbly
but yeah it just depends on what you
have I have
vt going to my virus my the virus my
Nord my JP all through different
interfaces here I have a bunch of USB
stuff and it's all crazy but yeah that
is basically how you get your MIDI
devices to work and yeah it's pretty
self-explanatory
it's sending and receiving MIDI data
