the importance of validating NLP through
research this is a question that I get
asked a lot is NLP researched no first
of all I want to be very clear I'm not
going to be able to answer if all of NLP
is research because there are people out
there that don't have a research
background like I do that maybe don't
understand the importance of research
and possibly even while they teach it
they don't teach it from a research
perspective the NLP that we teach as we
teach it we have looked at each and
every technique and found that there is
a validation there has been research
done and in fact we don't teach things
unless there has been some research done
and there's a specific reason why so
bear with me here for a moment there are
three things that I'd like to share with
you here that will express the
importance of why research is so
important in my own research for my
dissertation I research the Hawaiian
forgiveness process Epona poem I had a
test group i had a control group i did a
pretest a post-test and found a
reduction in unforgiveness that feeling
of revenge and avoidance motivations and
in fact when i get up in front of groups
and i say i'm about to teach you a very
ancient more esoteric technique you see
the look on some people's faces like hmm
and I taught them about my research and
they're on board with it listen we live
in a world where people should be able
to ask questions you need to have
critical thinking you have to ask does
this technique work and how do you know
it works NLP based report one of the
foundations are fundamental techniques
in all of NLP would 2006 validate that
NLP based rapport actually works well as
a person who's done an LP for a long
time I kind of SAT there and went well
of course it works however having that
research you have a person in the
training that goes how do you know it
works that's how you know that it works
one of my own students dr. Patrick Scott
works with people who have depression he
compared time empowerment which are
mental and emotional release techniques
versus cognitive behavioral therapies
one of the more cutting-edge techniques
in psychology five sessions of time
empowerment complete reduction of
depressive symptom ology 13 sessions of
cognitive behavioral therapies to even
get any
net and the cognitive behavioral therapy
group 29-percent had a relapse eleven
percent had to be rehospitalization the
time empowerment group no relapse no
rehospitalization depression gone how
valuable is that research it allows you
to know that the technique that you're
learning has been validated in the past
through research so that when you're
working with a client in the future you
have a congruence and a competency that
you won't get without that knowledge
