Sales: Overview of Sales Channels & Channel Brands Video Lecture | Using Brightpearl:Sales Order Processing - E-Commerce

in this video I'm going to give you an
overview of sales channels and channel
brands in this video we'll explain sales
channels will explain Channel brands and
then in Brightpearl we'll create a new
sales channel so firstly what are sales
channels sales channels are different
ways that customers place orders with
you
in other words routes for revenue to
enter your business so it's very much a
front-end concept a sales channel
however sales channels are different
from lead sources customer groups and
fulfillment centers or warehouses these
each can be managed in different ways
through Brightpearl so have a look at
the way those are set up as well to see
how you might match them up with sales
channels if you want to so there are
three types of sales channels in
Brightpearl
there are miscellaneous channels such as
telephone trade fairs and manual sales
you're creating in the back office
there are ecommerce channels such as an
online shop or multiple online shops and
market places like eBay and Amazon and
you can have as many e-commerce channels
as you like in fact you can have as many
miscellaneous channels or point-of-sales
channels as you like and the final type
of sales channel is point-of-sale so why
would you want to use sales channels
Brightpearl lets you segment all of your
different reports by sales channel it's
an attribute that can be used all the
way from sales and purchases down to the
base accounting transactions which lets
you see where you're making the most
revenue and the most profit it also lets
you tailor your messaging and
communications for each of your
audiences using something called channel
branding which is what we'll look at
next and this increases your repeat
business because it means that you can
really get the right message to the
right customer and as I've mentioned you
can segment any report based on your
sales channel so let's have a look at
Brightpearl to see how sales channels
work there's a channels menu on the top
left and you can see this account has
got every channel Under the Sun set up
we've got an Amazon channel we've got
big commerce eBay magento shopify
point-of-sale and a couple of
miscellaneous channels hovering over
each of these channels you can see we've
got recent sales best sellers and profit
and loss and some of the channels such
as eBay also give us the option to go to
a listing
screen but for now let's just drop into
the recent sales so here we can see a
list of all our recent eBay sales and
what it's actually doing is it's just
filtering the sales list to the channel
we've selected in this case our Indo
sports UK eBay store if we go into one
of these sales we can see that the
channel has been set here and because
we've got specific channel branding for
this channel when I print documentation
for this order you can see that the
documentation is tailored to that
specific channel we can also go to our
bestsellers list so let's go reports
sales by product and because Brightpearl
is a multi-channel hub this is the
report for all of your sales channels if
I wanted to just share the report for
one sales channel I could filter it down
here so let's say our most popular phone
retail products in a similar way we can
see our most popular channel that we can
filter by number of items number of
orders the cost and the net or gross
revenue and then finally the profit and
loss is another report that's worth
looking at so here's the company profit
and loss that I could filter by eBay if
I wanted to to see exactly how much
money are making on my eBay channel so
the costs here would include both costs
of goods I pay fees and anything else
you might want to put onto this sales
channel as a cost next we'll have a look
at channel branding and this allows each
of your sales channels in Brightpearl to
have its own company branding which
means it's got its own logo email
address and telephone number postal
address and most importantly its own
templates such as the invoices like the
one we just saw for that eBay sale email
updates and so on sometimes these are
called trading names and reasons you
might want to use channel branding allow
you to run a number of different market
focused or niche stores from one
back-end system so using the same
inventory the same staff the same
software to run effectively different
sub companies and this allows you to
really strengthen the brand with each of
these dead
created stores and tailored the
messaging for each customer group so you
might want to have a different returns
policy between your retail and your
wholesale customers you might want to
send out discounts and coupons only to
your Amazon customers you might want to
send out product updates to only one
certain type of customer from one sales
channel and using channel branding means
that you can put this kind of
communication on the bottom of the
documentation so that it automatically
goes out using the right templates to
the right customers so in Brightpearl we
can see our channel branding under setup
and here on the company information
screen is where we see our different
channel brands we've actually got three
brands set up in Doe sports in doe ebay
and endo shoes if I opened up the endo
shoes brand we can see we've got company
name and a logo dedicated to that
particular channel brand we can also see
that this channel brand has got its own
templates which may or may not be the
same as the other templates so generally
you might have the same templates apart
from perhaps just the sales invoice a
good example is my ebay channel brand
where most of my templates are the same
apart from the quote and the invoice for
which I've created dedicated templates
so this is a copy of the standard
invoice with the ebay logo once you've
created your channel brands go to the
channel screen channels manage channels
and here we can see the channel and the
channel brand if I wanted to update my
channel to set a new channel brand I
just click to edit the channel and then
choose the brand from here so finally
let's create a new sales channel from
the manage channel screen click add a
channel and here's where you can choose
what type of channel you add so you
could add an ebay channel an amazon
channel a Magento store a Brightpearl
point of sale a miscellaneous channel
telephone trade fairs maybe shopify
bigcommerce or EK empower shop so let's
add a miscellaneous channel for trade
fairs the channel type is a
miscellaneous channel and we choose the
channel branding
let's say this is Indo sports and then
safe and there we go
we've got a new miscellaneous channel at
the bottom which we can now see in our
channels list if you use one sales
channel all the time for back-office or
telephone sales it's worth going to the
sales settings screen and setting this
as a default Channel
so we'll scroll down to the bottom of
this screen and choose it on channel for
manual sales and here I've chosen phone
retail if you want to make sure that
every single sale has been assigned a
channel then choose yes under require a
channel when saving sales and that'll
prevent people from saving a sale unless
it's actually got a channel assigned so
that takes us to the end of the overview
of sales channels and channel brands
