project a 2011 professional edition the
two commands that I'll look at will be
to modify commands which is trim and
extend trim is to trim and as the tip
and a certain boundary extend is to
extend the original entity that you pick
to the selector boundary so before we
start let's look at my setup here I have
one circle and a couple of lines and a
two angled lines which is awkward
I'll show it to you later on what it
does so first we'll look at trim to
execute trim command you can actually go
to the tool bar which is here or of
course you can use the top menu bar
which is under trim and or of course you
can type on your command prompt trim for
trim or T as the default shortcut
analysis from project cut for trim and
here we look at how trim works so we
have to kill trim so select the cutting
entity or for trim select tool enter to
select all or just pick a line here the
like and then you press ENTER on your
keyboard or enter using your spacebar
and then you will have presented with a
few options let's go for the default
option select entity to 3 so what you do
is you select the entity that you want
to trim
there you go as you can see the line you
have selected the first boundary and
then you trim the line to your
requirement that is trimming okay let's
go into the options type trim again and
this time we'll select an entity all
right
for example this normally to trim an
entity or an object it has to be
touching each other so in order to trim
so let's enter and let's say I want to
trim this circle you see I actually trim
the whole half-circle because I have
selected this line but what I want to do
is I want to trim this part of circle
instead of the half circle so what I did
I will do is trim select the edges or
the boundary enter and this time you use
the H mode we type e on the keyboard and
then we the default is no extent so we
do it an extent so basically this is
called the implied boundary where this
line will expand invisibly you cannot
see the extension and when I click on
this area as you can see it's actually
trimming from the two points that I pick
this and this so this is the function of
this option H mode extend mode okay so
let's try the trim define I'll select
the entity again the boundary and either
you use friend-friends or crossing is
actually quite default will not go into
projection so friends is you can
actually sell
defense trim or trim and we select
crossing crossing is basically just
highlight crossing so these are the two
options that you can use okay we zoom
out all right now we go to another
command which is X 10 so the X 10 can be
executed from the side toolbar here
which is shown as this icon or again we
can use the top menu under extent or on
the command prompt we just type the full
word extent or the shortcut allows the
default shortcut eliza's will be X to
execute the extend command so extend
command is the reverse of trim what you
do is you select the boundary entity
that you want to extend let's say I
select this and I just pick on this line
you extend to the length to the boundary
okay I'll pick on this again to show you
so you extend to the boundary that you
pick on to the line or entity that you
picked earlier alright and then we have
another option called again the H X 10
so this time I will extend and I'll
select this line usually you will not be
you will not be able to extend ah you
are able to extend the H as you can see
because the H extend is on just now so
let's
click extend h-his can see on the
execution is ready on so the default is
actually not on all right so let's undo
the this time when I do the boundary
pick each and no extend and you notice
that you cannot be extended when you
pick the entity but if the itch is
extend extended it means there's implied
boundary here what you do is you just
pick the entity that you want to extend
you will extend accordingly to the each
or to the line that you pick all right
this is very useful when you for example
you do not have that length and but you
want to extend to that length okay this
is the to comment that I want to bring
forward and I'll give you a little tips
here this little tip is when you type
trip and you pick an entity and when you
trim all right
as you sure you trim according to your
pick boundary so but when you hold Shift
key you hold shift key and pick the line
you become
the extend command so if you will
release the shift key you become the
trim command
you cannot extend or trip I mean you can
extend all right show you again I draw a
line here okay this time I'll use extend
so let's say I pick a boundary I type
extend I've picked a boundary and when I
click the line you will extend all right
but I click this like you will not
extend because it's really touching the
extension boundary so what you do you
hold shift T when you hold shift key it
become trim notice the difference of
course you can trim this line as you can
see when you hold shift T you will have
trimmed effect changing to extend effect
or extend effect changing to trim in
fact all right this is the tip that I'm
going to give you and this is the
tutorial that I'm going to show it to
you so
