Voiceover or Commentary in iMovie 10.0.1 | Tutorial 18 Video Lecture | iMovie Mac: Basics to Advanced - Professional Skills

hello ladies and gents row here and
welcome to normal films they're gonna be
continuing our iMovie tutorials and
we've covered a lot so far let me open
up iMovie and begin we've covered a lot
like I said in our tutorials so far and
what I want you guys do is be sure to
leave a comment below of what you would
like me to cover or something that you
don't know and I'll be sure to get back
to you with a video response or with a
common reply but let's begin this
tutorial is a voiceover which I'm sure a
lot of you are familiar with the
voice-over feature with the old version
of iMovie and it was really simple you
just click a button and one of these uh
it was an option down here just a voice
over but and the new version of iMovie
it's it's actually like quite difficult
to find I was actually unable to find it
through you the options through here or
through the adjustments it seems like
would be pretty easy to find and
honestly I used the voice-over option
like very often to do like let's say I
wanted to fix some audio where I wanted
to do re re record my audio but keep the
same footage so the way the way the only
way I found out to do it and I this
version the new version of iMovie is by
simply hitting V on your keyboard you
can have any part of the iMovie selected
as long as you're in iMovie and you just
hit V you'll see this little feature
right here pop up known as the voiceover
and it's called the voiceover but like I
just said I'm repeating myself now but
if you click on right here before you
begin recording click on the voiceover
option you better choose what microphone
you want to record for from now for from
right here I'm going to change the
built-in microphone but I do recommend
like a good microphone like I use I do
use a blue Yeti which is a really really
good recording microphone and once you
have your microphone selected you just
plug it in and it should pop up into
options right here of what microphone
you want to use and then most of the
time you want to just adjust how the
volume sounds if you pay attention right
here right above where I'm click on
white below where I'm clicking right in
this area here as I move this and
zanna's I'm talking since I have it's
going through this microphone you can
see it rise as I go
100% see it's rising I'm talking getting
louder and it gets so we're gonna keep
it right in this general area we don't
want to in the red and we don't want it
all the way blow we just want to write
and kind of kind of up there but not in
the red so we're gonna keep it right
about there
and we are mute project as most of the
time recommended that way yeah whatever
your audio project your the prop the
audio and within your project doesn't
interrupt you while you're doing that
voiceover so now I'm going to do a
simple simple example of how this works
is you basically select your starting
point where you want to start listing
voiceover and then what you're going to
do is hit this button right here
start recording I'll do a countdown of
three two one hello ladies and gents row
here and then you can hit stop or you
can hit this space bar to stop now now
here I hope you have this extra clip
this additional audio on top of my audio
in this clip which I actually muted so
what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna play this
and show you guys how it sounded and you
see that's a voiceover and that actually
comes in handy I hope this helps some of
you guys out and actually did help me
out a lot by finding the voiceover and
it's just just like I said earlier it's
just by hitting V it makes it go away or
hit V again to make the voiceover option
up here and it just like that just V on
your keyboard
