The resulting electrostatic attraction between the oppositely charged ions holds them together, forming an ionic compound.

Ans. Metallic bonding is responsible for the unique properties of metals. In metallic bonding, the valence electrons of metal atoms are delocalized, meaning they are not associated with any specific atom but are free to move within the metal lattice. This "sea" of delocalized electrons allows metals to conduct electricity and heat efficiently. It also gives metals their malleability and ductility, as the mobile electrons can easily move and rearrange themselves in response to external forces.
