| 1. What is the CAT exam? |  |
The CAT exam, also known as the Common Admission Test, is a computer-based entrance exam conducted in India for admission to various management programs offered by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other prestigious business schools in the country.
| 2. What is the eligibility criteria for the CAT exam? | |
To be eligible for the CAT exam, a candidate must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum aggregate of 50% or an equivalent CGPA. The degree can be in any discipline from a recognized university or deemed university. There is no age limit for appearing in the exam.
| 3. How many times can I appear for the CAT exam? | |
There is no limit on the number of attempts for the CAT exam. A candidate can appear for the exam as many times as they want, provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria each time.
| 4. What is the exam pattern of the CAT exam? | |
The CAT exam consists of three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). The total duration of the exam is 180 minutes, with 60 minutes allotted to each section. The exam is conducted in English, and there are a total of 100 questions.

The CAT exam is scored on a percentile basis. Each correct answer carries three marks, and one mark is deducted for each wrong answer. The selection process for admission to the IIMs and other participating institutes usually involves a combination of CAT scores, Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI). The weightage given to each component may vary from institute to institute.
