0:4:31: Germany their goal was to create a
0:4:34: classless society in which everyone had
0:4:36: equal access to resources and
0:4:38: opportunities
0:4:40: the Weimar Republic didn't want the
0:4:42: spartacist league to take over and turn
0:4:44: the country socialist
0:4:46: to stop them the government used force
0:4:49: and got help from right-wing groups that
0:4:52: included political organizations in
0:4:54: opposition
0:4:55: unfortunately the fighting was brutal
0:4:58: and many people got hurt however the
0:5:1: Weimar Republic faced other challenges
0:5:4: as well in 1923 the country was hit with
0:5:8: an economic crisis due to a depletion of
0:5:11: gold reserves and more printing of paper

0:5:14: this led to further social and economic
0:5:17: unrest with many Germans losing faith in

0:5:21: which further led to Great Depression in

0:5:49: these factors helped to fuel the rise of

0:7:53: gave passionate speeches and promised to
0:7:55: make Germany proud again which made many
0:7:58: people like him
0:8:0: he held massive rallies and skillfully
0:8:2: used propaganda to project himself as a
0:8:5: messiah
0:8:7: in 1932 the Nazi party became the
0:8:10: largest in the reichstat leading to
0:8:12: Hitler's rise to power
0:8:14: now let us discuss how the rise of
0:8:17: Hitler and the Nazi party led to the
0:8:19: destruction of democracy in Germany
0:8:22: in 1933 things started to go downhill
0:8:25: for democracy in Germany when President
0:8:28: Hindenburg made Hitler the chancellor
0:8:30: which was the highest position in the
0:8:33: government
0:8:34: Hitler was able to gain support from the
0:8:37: conservatives and began to dismantle the
0:8:39: structures of democracy
0:8:41: a fire broke out in the German
0:8:44: Parliament building in February which
0:8:46: helped Hitler to suspend civil rights
0:8:48: such as freedom of speech press and
0:8:51: assembly through the fire decree of the
0:8:53: 28th of February 1933.
0:8:56: this decree was mainly used against the
0:8:59: Communists who were sent to
0:9:1: concentration camps
0:9:3: on the 3rd of March 1933 the enabling
0:9:7: Act was passed which established
0:9:9: dictatorship in Germany
0:9:11: Hitler was given dictatorial powers to
0:9:14: sideline Parliament and rule by decree
0:9:16: leading to the ban of all political
0:9:19: parties and trade unions except for the
0:9:21: Nazi party and its affiliates
0:9:24: the state established complete control
0:9:26: over the economy media Army and
0:9:29: Judiciary
0:9:31: Hitler created special surveillance and
0:9:33: security forces like the Gestapo SS
0:9:36: criminal police and security service SD
0:9:39: to control and Order Society in ways
0:9:42: that he wanted
0:9:43: the extra Constitutional Powers of these
0:9:46: forces gave the Nazi State its
0:9:48: reputation as the most dreaded criminal

0:10:33: because they believed the Treaty of
0:10:35: Versailles was too strict
0:10:37: however Hitler did not stop there Hitler
0:10:41: was advised not to invest heavily in

0:10:45: deficit financing but he still chose War
0:10:48: as the way out of the approaching
0:10:50: economic crisis
0:10:52: in 1939 Germany invaded Poland and
0:10:56: started a war with France and England
0:10:59: later in 1940 a pact was signed between
0:11:3: Germany Italy and Japan called The
0:11:6: tripartite Pact
0:11:7: it was an agreement that these three
0:11:10: countries would support each other in
0:11:12: case of war the strengthening Hitler's
0:11:14: claim to international power
0:11:17: Hitler wanted to take control of Eastern
0:11:19: Europe so that Germans could have more
0:11:22: space and food supplies
0:11:24: he attacked the Soviet Union in June
0:11:27: 1941 but it turned out to be a big
0:11:30: mistake
0:11:31: the Soviet Army defeated Germany badly
0:11:34: at the Battle of Stalingrad after this
0:11:37: the Soviet Army became the most powerful

0:12:11: as the war progressed the U.S and its
0:12:14: allies made significant gains against
0:12:16: the Axis powers
0:12:18: in 1945 the Allies demanded Germany's
0:12:22: unconditional surrender and on May 7
0:12:25: Germany officially surrendered to the
0:12:27: Allies ending the war in Europe
0:12:30: however the war in the Pacific continued
0:12:33: and the U.S faced a difficult decision
0:12:36: in order to end the war quickly and
0:12:38: avoid further American casualties the
0:12:41: U.S dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese
0:12:44: cities of Hiroshima on August 6 1945 and
0:12:48: Nagasaki on August 9 1945
0:12:52: these bombings resulted in the deaths of
0:12:55: over 200 000 people mostly civilians
0:12:59: Japan surrendered on August 15 1945
0:13:3: ending first World War
0:13:5: in conclusion the Weimar Republic was
0:13:8: established in Germany after first world
0:13:11: war but it faced numerous economic
0:13:13: political and Social Challenges
0:13:16: Hitler and the Nazi party capitalized on
0:13:19: these issues and Rose to power in 1933.
