to understand the theory of
socialization we need to understand what
culture is about in socialization it is
cultured it is transmitted from parents
to children from people to people when
they come to interact
now culture is made up of religion
belief systems languages traditions
practices values ethics all those things
that we have to negotiate we have to
know we have to learn in order for us to
survive in society within kids they're
not necessarily that expert on a
particular culture what they know of
their culture is something that they
learn from their parents and it starts
at home
particularly family is that primary
cultural group primary group of
socialization where it all begins
children are said to be born as tabula
rasa this theory was forwarded by the
philosopher arista toll it translates to
blank slates children are born without
culture children are born without
knowledge of the part of the particular
culture of their parents and it has
learned through observation through
immersion now we need to talk a little
bit about tabula rasa in order for us to
understand how it is transmitted how
culture is transmitted
and one of things that is very essential
in transmitting culture is expertise on
language language and discourse allows
meaning to be transmitted when people
are interacting with each other parents
kids friends between friends strangers
foreigners interacting with each other
this is the exchange of culture the
exchange of ideas now the following

is about they are what we call
systematic elements of society that
allows for structure to happen allows

of the people in the social group we're
in those who sharing it to see it as a
part of their identity for example in

taught to you is the culture of your
family the culture of your community and
the culture of your society
the cultures of the world are vast and
numerous so we are living in such a rich
world of culture and there are layers to
culture as you can see in slide number
three layer one is the specific culture
of ciphers for shared beliefs and
traditions and practices layer to the
subcultures and layer three the cultural
