going to talk to you about how you can
use Instagram video contests for success
on the app and they're going to use the
powerful accomodation site Airbnb as an
example so let's take a look in January
2014
Airbnb launched an in-stream video
contest to promote its brand the
Sundance Film Festival and places that
its customers invite people to stay on
their vacations and here was the image
that was posted on Instagram along with
his tagline can you fit the beauty of
your city into 15 seconds tag your video
Airbnb shorts to show it to the world
and a team with Sundance Dutchess and
then there's a link to the website where
there's more details about the
competition that image was also followed
by a video to promote the contest
succinct 15 seconds video to promote the
contest and the prize was a trip to
London a place at a Sundance workshop
and a video camera with a prize that big
the entries soon came flooding in and
after the competition had closed a
search on statigram showed that nearly
950 videos were tagged with the hashtag
Airbnb shorts and this is from Airbnb
who have a Instagram following of around
25,000 so it's really good return
considering that the barrier to entry
could be quite high the contest was open
for under two weeks and in a savvy move
the contest winner was posted on to
Airbnb Facebook page which meant that
everybody who entered had to go on to
the Facebook page to have a look and
that funneled more people
to that social network and potentially
gave Airbnb more exposure and friends
and even after the competition are
closed the website for the contest
stayed live which told people that the
contest was closed but directed them to
their main website where they could go
and book accommodation for their next
vacation so in conclusion this
competition demonstrates that passionate
Instagram followers are enthusiastic
about not just entering photo contests
but also videos especially if the prize
that you're offering matches the effort
that needs to be put in to enter of
course you need a unique hashtag and
it's a really good idea to repost the
winners to provide transparency and of
course use it as an opportunity to
promote upcoming contests that might be
of the same nature not many people are
doing Instagram video contest at the
moment so now it's a really good chance
to get in ahead of the curve and launch
