one of the most interesting developments
in Instagram video is the hyperlapse app
and just like instagram itself it can be
utilized for business so let's take a
look at the app itself and go into some
detail about how you might utilize it
for your marketing so first a quick
summary of what hyperlapse actually is
it's a companion app for Instagram a
completely separate app so you'll have
to search for it in the app store and
download it but it is free and what it
allows you to do is quickly and easily
create cinematic time-lapse videos all
you do is open the app tap the circle
once to record choose the speed at which
you want the time lapse or hyperlapse to
be converted into you can choose between
two and twelve speed and then share it
onto social media or save it for
downloading and editing else way you can
record for up to 45 minutes depending on
your handset and the feature that really
stands out about the app is its
stabilization with traditional
time-lapse videos you have to keep the
camera still while the scene records or
just move it very very slowly but with
hyperlapse you are encouraged to move
around while the scene is taking place
and the app stabilization technology
will kick in when the video is processed
to try and remove a lot of the camera
wobble or jerkiness to give the video a
cinematic feel so here's just a very
quick step by step on how it would work
you open up and record once the video is
recorded it's saved and it can be shared
to Facebook or Instagram and if it's an
Instagram you can add filters
and crop and then you just share it on
as normal it's worth noting that three
minutes of video sped up 12 times will
create a 15 second year for Instagram
which is the limit and while the
technology in the app will steady your
recording pretty well it's still
advisable to keep your camera as steady
as possible when you tune direction or
move to really prevent any wobble in the
finished result and keep the recording
as smooth as possible course doing this
will give your videos a more
professional feel if you don't want to
import the video straight to Facebook or
Instagram all the videos are saved as
hype lapses to your camera roll so then
you can import them into other mobile
camera apps to add music and other
effects or download them to your
computer to add them that way and really
the idea of using hyperlapse for
marketing is to mirror some of the other
content strategies that we've seen in
this course such as giving
behind-the-scenes looks product demos a
story of an event etc so let's take a
look at some of the ways that pipe lapse
is being used by brands in this example
from Foot Locker we see a hyperlapse
product unboxing and you can see in the
caption they're encouraging people to
comment to say whether they'll be
picking up these shoes or not in this
example from cosmopolitan we get a
really quick office tool
in this example from nature's recipe we
get a dog's eye view of a dog playing
fetch to celebrate national dog day
which is nice little way to tie
hyperlapse into a cultural event and
share that on to fans and followers in
this example from Disneyland we get a
hand panoramic shot of paradise appear
in disneyland california adventure park
that's the nice little way to show off
the scene all sped up and this is an
example of how the app deals with
converting cinematic scenes even when
the camera is being moved and finally
we've got this one from my toon jus
which is a fun little follow the signs
video which leads to obviously a product
shot you can see here that this person
wasn't too impressed but it's nice
little idea I think
