Types of Motion - Motion and Measurement of Distances - CBSE Class 6 Science Video Lecture

FAQs on Types of Motion - Motion and Measurement of Distances - CBSE Class 6 Science Video Lecture

1. What are the different types of motion?
Ans. There are three types of motion: translatory motion, rotational motion, and vibratory motion. Translatory motion is when an object moves in a straight line, rotational motion is when an object spins around an axis, and vibratory motion is when an object moves back and forth repeatedly.
2. What is the difference between distance and displacement?
Ans. Distance is the total length of the path covered by an object, whereas displacement is the shortest distance between the starting and ending points of an object's motion. Distance is a scalar quantity, while displacement is a vector quantity.
3. How is motion measured?
Ans. Motion is measured using different units depending on the type of motion. For translatory motion, distance is measured in meters (m) or kilometers (km), and time is measured in seconds (s) or hours (h). For rotational motion, angles are measured in degrees (°) or radians (rad), and time is measured in seconds (s) or minutes (min).
4. What is uniform motion?
Ans. Uniform motion is when an object covers equal distances in equal intervals of time. In other words, the speed of the object remains constant throughout its motion. For example, if a car covers 60 km in 1 hour, 120 km in 2 hours, and 180 km in 3 hours, it is said to be in uniform motion.
5. How can we calculate speed?
Ans. Speed is calculated by dividing the distance covered by an object by the time taken. The formula for speed is: Speed = Distance / Time The SI unit of speed is meters per second (m/s) or kilometers per hour (km/h).
