What is the fraction of the shaded area?
  • a)
    1/3
  • b)
    1/8
  • c)
    1/4
  • d)
    None of these
Correct answer is option 'B'. Can you explain this answer?

Abhay Sen answered
► Total number of blocks = 8
► Number of shaded blocks = 1
► Number of unshaded blocks = 7
⇒ Fraction of Shaded area =  No. of shaded blocks/ Total number of blocks = 1/8.
Thus, the correct answer is Option B.

Arrange the following in descending order:
 (2/9), (2/3), (8/21)
  • a)
    (2/3) > (8/21) > (2/9)
  • b)
    (8/21) > (2/9) > (2/3)
  • c)
    (2/9) > (2/3) > (8/21)
  • d)
    None of these
Correct answer is option 'A'. Can you explain this answer?

Mehul Sen answered
First, we convert each fraction into a like fraction.
2/9 = (2 x 7)/(9 x 7) = 14/63
2/3 = (2 x 21)/(3 x 21) = 42/63
8/21 = (8 x 2)/(21 x 3) = 24/63.
If denominators are the same, then, greater the numerator, the greater will be the fraction.
∵ 42 > 24 > 14
⇒ (2/3) > (8/21) > (2/9)
Thus, the correct answer is Option A.

What is the fraction of the shaded area ?
  • a)
    1/3
  • b)
    1/4
  • c)
    7/8
  • d)
    None of these
Correct answer is option 'C'. Can you explain this answer?

Nabanita Patel answered
Solution:
Total number of blocks = 8
Number of shaded blocks = 7
Number of unshaded blocks = 1
Fraction of Shaded area =  No. of shaded blocks/ Total number of blocks
=7/8
So option C is the correct answer.

What will be  the average of  0.3, 3, 0.03 , and 0.002
  • a)
    0.833
  • b)
    0.803
  • c)
    83.3
  • d)
    833
Correct answer is option 'A'. Can you explain this answer?

Avi Khanna answered
Given numbers are :
0.3 , 3 , 0.03 and 0.002
We know that Average =  Sum of numbers divided by total numbers
 Average = 0.3 + 3 + 0.03 + 0.002 / 4
                    = 3.332 / 4
                    = 0.833
So, Average = 0.833
Therefore, option A is the correct answer.

The result of adding the difference of 3.003 and 2.05 to their sum is
  • a)
    6.006
  • b)
    60.06
  • c)
    600.6
  • d)
    0.6060
Correct answer is option 'A'. Can you explain this answer?

Mehul Sen answered
Given numbers are :
3.003 and 2.05
Now, Sum of numbers = 3.003 + 2.05
                                    = 5.053
Difference of numbers = 3.003 - 2.05
                                    = 0.953
Adding the Difference of numbers to th Sum of numbers , we get
 5.053 + 0.953 = 6.006
So option A is the correct answer.

Which of the following is an improper fraction?
  • a)
    20 / 70
  • b)
    30 / 40
  • c)
    50 / 20
  • d)
    70 / 80
Correct answer is option 'C'. Can you explain this answer?

Rhea Khanna answered
A fraction in which the numerator is greater than the denominator is improper fraction.
Since in the given fraction 50 / 20
50 is greater than 20. So it is an improper fraction .
So option C is the correct answer.

2 / 3 of 66 is:
  • a)
    33
  • b)
    68
  • c)
    88
  • d)
    44
Correct answer is option 'D'. Can you explain this answer?

Saikat Chawla answered
Given 2 / 3 of 66 = 2 / 3 x 66 = 44
Hence , 2/3 of 66 is 44

    13.8 cm2
  • d)
    14 cm2
Correct answer is option 'B'. Can you explain this answer?

Kaavya Menon answered
Given ,
Length =  6.7 cm
Breadth = 2 cm
Area of rectangle = L X B
= (6.7 x 2 ) cm
= 13.4 cm2
So option B is the correct answer.

A grocery store sells apples for $1.29 per pound and bananas for $0.79 per pound. If a customer buys 3 pounds of apples and 5 pounds of bananas, what is the total cost of the fruits?
  • a)
    $7.62
  • b)
    $7.82
  • c)
    $8.17
  • d)
    $8.58
Correct answer is option 'B'. Can you explain this answer?

Rohini Seth answered
  • Price per pound of apples = $1.29
  • Weight of apples = 3 pounds
  • Price per pound of bananas = $0.79
  • Weight of bananas = 5 pounds
Total cost = Cost of apples + Cost of bananas =3.87+3.95
Therefore, the total cost of the fruits is $7.82.

Understanding the Problem
To solve the addition problem of fractions, we need a common denominator.
Identifying the Fractions
- We have 3/4 and 1/2.
- The denominators are 4 and 2.
Finding the Common Denominator
- The least common multiple (LCM) of 4 and 2 is 4.
- This means we will convert 1/2 into a fraction with a denominator of 4.
Converting 1/2
- To convert 1/2 to a denominator of 4, we multiply both the numerator and denominator by 2.
- This gives us: 1/2 = (1 × 2) / (2 × 2) = 2/4.
Adding the Fractions
- Now we can add 3/4 and 2/4 since they have the same denominator:
- 3/4 + 2/4 = (3 + 2) / 4 = 5/4.
Final Answer
- The sum of 3/4 + 1/2 is 5/4.
- Therefore, the correct answer is option 'A' (5/4).
Conclusion
- When adding fractions, always find a common denominator.
- Convert fractions if necessary, then add them together.
- In this case, we found that the addition of 3/4 and 1/2 equals 5/4.

Simplify the fraction (p × q) / q. What is the result?
  • a)
    p/q +1
  • b)
    p/q +q
  • c)
    p
  • d)
    p/q +p
Correct answer is option 'C'. Can you explain this answer?

Coders Trust answered
Step 1: Write the expression
(p × q) / q
Step 2: Apply the division rule
Dividing by q means we can cancel q from both the numerator and the denominator (only if q ≠ 0).
So: (p × q) / q = p × (q ÷ q)
Step 3: Simplify q ÷ q
q ÷ q = 1 (since anything divided by itself is 1, except when the denominator is 0).
Step 4: Final simplification
= p × 1
= p

When 0.232323..... is converted into a fraction, then the result is:
