Chlorophyll (also chlorophyl) is any of several related green pigments found in cyanobacteria and the chloroplasts of algaeand plants. Its name is derived from the Greek words χλωρoς, chloros Chlorophyll is essential in photosynthesis, allowing plants to absorb energy from light.
