? LIKE FRACTIONS-The fractions having same denominators are called like fractions.
E.g.: 2/6 , 3/6 , 4/6 ,5/6 etc.
? UNLIKE FRACTIONS-The fractions having different denominators are called unlike
fractions. E.g.: 2/3 , 3/5 , 4/6 ,5/9 etc.
? PROPER FRACTIONS-The fractions having numerators smaller than denominators
are called proper fractions. E.g.: 2/3 , 3/5 , 4/6 ,5/9 etc.
? IMPROPER FRACTIONS-The fractions having numerators larger than denominators
are called improper fractions. E.g.: 4/3 , 8/5 , 9/6 ,55/9 etc.
? MIXED FRACTIONS-The fractions that are formed by a whole number and a proper
fraction are called mixed fractions.
? EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS-The fractions which look different but have the same
value are called equivalent fractions. E.g.: ½=2/4=3/6 , 5/10=10/20=15/30 etc.

HOW TO CHANGE MIXED
FRACTION INTO IMPROPER FRACTION
Eg : 7 1
9
( 7*9 ) + 1 = 64
9 9
VICE VERSA
Eg : 17 = 17/4 = 4

FAQs on Fractions and Decimals Class 7 PPT

1. How do I convert a fraction to a decimal?
Ans. To convert a fraction to a decimal, divide the numerator (top number) by the denominator (bottom number). For example, to convert 3/4 to a decimal, divide 3 by 4, which equals 0.75.
2. How do I convert a decimal to a fraction?
Ans. To convert a decimal to a fraction, write the decimal as a fraction with the decimal as the numerator and a power of 10 as the denominator. Simplify the fraction if possible. For example, to convert 0.6 to a fraction, write it as 6/10, and simplify it to 3/5.
3. How do I add and subtract fractions with different denominators?
Ans. To add or subtract fractions with different denominators, find a common denominator by multiplying the denominators together. Then, multiply the numerators by the appropriate factor to make the denominators equal. Finally, add or subtract the numerators and keep the common denominator. For example, to add 1/4 and 1/3, find a common denominator of 12 (4 x 3), convert the fractions to have the denominator of 12, and then add the numerators: 3/12 + 4/12 = 7/12.
4. How do I multiply fractions?
Ans. To multiply fractions, multiply the numerators together to get the new numerator, and multiply the denominators together to get the new denominator. Simplify the resulting fraction if necessary. For example, to multiply 2/3 by 4/5, multiply the numerators (2 x 4 = 8) and multiply the denominators (3 x 5 = 15), resulting in 8/15.
5. How do I divide fractions?
Ans. To divide fractions, multiply the first fraction by the reciprocal (flipped version) of the second fraction. This means you keep the first fraction as it is, and then flip the second fraction upside down. Then, multiply the numerators and denominators together. Simplify the resulting fraction if needed. For example, to divide 2/3 by 4/5, multiply 2/3 by 5/4, which equals (2 x 5) / (3 x 4) = 10/12, and simplify it to 5/6.
