Two Port Analysis Understanding Two-Port Networks
Definition
An electrical circuit with two
pairs of terminals forming
ports for connecting to
external circuits.
Port Condition
Current entering one terminal
must equal current leaving the
other terminal of the same
port.
Function
Serves as interfaces where
the network connects to other
networks, allowing signal input
and output.

One-Port vs Two-Port Networks
One-Port Network
A two-terminal electrical network where current enters
through one terminal and leaves through another.
Examples: resistors, inductors, capacitors
Contains a single pair of terminals (1 & 1')
Two-Port Network
A four-terminal network with two pairs of terminals
forming two ports.
Port1: terminals 1 & 1'
Port2: terminals 2 & 2'

Network Variables and Parameters
Four Variables
V1, V2, I1, and I2 exist in a two-port network.
Variable Classification
Two variables are chosen as independent
and two as dependent.
Parameter Sets
Six possible pairs of equations yield
different parameter sets.
Coefficients
The coefficients of independent variables
are called parameters.
