The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty, which was signed at Versailles in France, was responsible for putting an end to the First World War. Thus the Treaty Of Versailles stopped the war between Germany and the allied forces. 
According to the terms of this treaty:-
=> Germany was held responsible for the war and was compelled to pay compensations.
=> The size of the German army was restricted.
=> Germany lost one-tenth of its population and resource rich rhineland etc.
This treaty was, however, very harsh. The people of Germany were angered by the disgrace which the Versailles treaty caused them. This Gave rise to one of the most cruel dictators of the world i.e., Hitler and The world War II.
