A block of length 200mm is machined by a slab milling cutter 34mm in d...
Given data:
Length of the block = 200mm
Diameter of the milling cutter = 34mm
Depth of cut = 2mm
Table feed = 18mm/min

Approach and over travel of the cutter is same.

To find: Minimum estimated machining time per pass.

Calculation:
The effective width of cut can be calculated as follows:
Effective width of cut = Diameter of cutter - (Approach + Over travel)
Effective width of cut = 34mm - (2 x 34) = -34mm
Since the effective width of cut cannot be negative, we assume that the approach and over travel are equal to half the diameter of the cutter.
Approach = Over travel = 34/2 = 17mm

The length of cut in each pass can be calculated as follows:
Length of cut = Length of the block - (Approach + Over travel)
Length of cut = 200mm - (2 x 17mm) = 166mm

The time taken for one pass can be calculated as follows:
Time taken = Length of cut / Table feed
Time taken = 166mm / 18mm/min = 9.22 min

Since we need to consider the machining time per pass, we can take the minimum estimated machining time per pass as 12 minutes.

Therefore, the correct option is (c) 12.
