There are two alloys P and Q made up of silver, copper and aluminium. ...
Solution:

Given,
Alloy P contains 45% silver and rest aluminium.
Alloy Q contains 30% silver, 35% copper and rest aluminium.
Alloys P and Q are mixed in the ratio of 1 : 4.5

Let us assume that we take 1 kg of alloy P and 4.5 kg of alloy Q.

Then, the amount of silver in alloy P = 45% of 1 kg = 0.45 kg
The amount of silver in alloy Q = 30% of 4.5 kg = 1.35 kg

Total amount of silver in the new alloy = 0.45 kg + 1.35 kg = 1.8 kg

Total weight of the new alloy = 1 kg + 4.5 kg = 5.5 kg

Therefore, the percentage of silver in the new alloy = (1.8 kg/5.5 kg) x 100% = 32.72% ≈ 33%

Similarly, the amount of copper in alloy Q = 35% of 4.5 kg = 1.575 kg

Total amount of copper in the new alloy = (1.575 kg/5.5 kg) x 100% = 28.64% ≈ 29%

Hence, the approximate percentages of silver and copper in the newly formed alloy are 33% and 29% respectively.

Therefore, the correct answer is option A.
