Let the charge given to the shell be Q'. Since the shell is an uncharged conductor, the charge will distribute itself uniformly over the outer surface of the shell.

The potential difference between two points is given by the equation V = k(Q/r), where k is the electrostatic constant and r is the distance between the two points.

Initially, the potential difference between the surface of the solid sphere and the outer surface of the hollow shell is V.

When the shell is given a charge Q', the total charge on the system is Q + Q'.

The potential difference between the surface of the solid sphere and the outer surface of the hollow shell can be calculated as follows:

V' = k((Q + Q')/r)

Since the charge on the solid sphere remains unchanged, Q + Q' = Q.

V' = k(Q/r)

Therefore, the potential difference remains the same, V.

So, even after giving a charge Q' to the shell, the potential difference between the surface of the solid sphere and the outer surface of the hollow shell remains V.
