In case of a semi-converter operating with α < 60°, FD does not comes into play, as the voltage never falls to zero and gives no chance for the inductor to discharge.

Degrees, the output voltage is positive for the positive half-cycle of the input voltage and negative for the negative half-cycle of the input voltage. This is because the converter only conducts for a portion of each half-cycle of the input voltage, depending on the firing angle.

For a 3-phase semi-converter, the output voltage consists of three phases, each shifted by 120 degrees from each other. The phase relationship between the input and output voltages depends on the firing angle and the phase sequence of the input voltage.

At a firing angle of less than 60 degrees, the output voltage will be positive for the positive half-cycle of each input phase that is ahead of the firing angle, and negative for the negative half-cycle of each input phase that is ahead of the firing angle. The output voltage for the other input phases will be zero.

For example, if the firing angle is 30 degrees and the input phase sequence is ABC, then the output voltage for phase A will be positive for the first 30 degrees of each half-cycle of the input voltage, and zero for the rest of the cycle. The output voltage for phase B will be positive for the first 150 degrees of each half-cycle of the input voltage, and negative for the rest of the cycle. The output voltage for phase C will be zero for the entire cycle.
