A single-phase two pulse converter feeds RL load with a sufficient smo...
Explanation:
A single-phase two pulse converter is a rectifier circuit that converts AC voltage into DC voltage with the help of two thyristors. The load connected to the output of the rectifier is generally an RL load (resistor-inductor).

Effect of increasing load resistance:
If the resistance of the load circuit is increased, then the following effects are observed:

- The average value of the load current decreases as per Ohm's law (I = V/R).
- The ripple content of the load current increases. Ripple content is the AC component present in the DC current. It is caused due to the presence of inductance in the load circuit that tends to smooth out the output voltage. The higher the inductance, the higher the ripple content.
- The peak value of the load current increases as the inductance of the load opposes any change in current flow.

Reason why ripple content of current increases:
The ripple content of the load current increases with an increase in load resistance because of the following reasons:

- The inductance of the load circuit opposes any change in current flow, and it tends to maintain the current level even when the voltage across the load changes. So, when the voltage is applied to the load, the inductance initially allows the current to rise, but as the current increases, the inductance starts to oppose it, and the rate of change of current decreases. This causes a ripple in the current waveform, which is superimposed on top of the DC component.
- When the load resistance is increased, the inductance of the load circuit also increases, leading to a higher rate of change of current and thus increasing the ripple content.

Conclusion:
Therefore, the correct answer is option 'B' - the ripple content of the load current increases when the resistance of the load circuit is increased in a single-phase two pulse converter.
