The peak inverse voltage (PIV) for each diode in a single-phase, full converter with B-2 type of controlled rectifier can be calculated as follows:

For a B-2 type controlled rectifier, the diodes are arranged in a bridge configuration. In this configuration, the supply voltage is applied across the two outer diodes.

The peak inverse voltage for each diode can be calculated by considering the maximum voltage applied across it.

In a single-phase full converter, the peak voltage of the supply voltage can be given as:

Vp = √2 * Vm

Where Vm is the peak value of the sinusoidal supply voltage.

Since the supply voltage is applied across the outer diodes, the maximum voltage applied across each diode is half of the peak voltage.

Therefore, the PIV for each diode in a single-phase, full converter with B-2 type of controlled rectifier is:

PIV = Vp/2 = (√2 * Vm)/2 = √2 * (Vm/2) = √2 * (Vrms)

Where Vrms is the RMS value of the sinusoidal supply voltage.
