    Calculation of moles of urea

Given mole fraction of urea = 0.05

    Mole fraction of water = 1 - 0.05 = 0.95

Let the total mass of the solution be x g

Mass of urea in the solution = mole fraction of urea × total mass of the solution

    = 0.05 × x g

Mass of water in the solution = mole fraction of water × total mass of the solution

    = 0.95 × x g

Mass of urea = Mass of solution - Mass of water

    = 900 g - 0.95x g

    Density of the solution = 1.2 g cm-3

Volume of the solution = Mass of the solution / Density of the solution

    = x / 1.2 cm3

    Molarity of the solution

Molarity = Number of moles of solute / Volume of solution in liters

Number of moles of urea = Mass of urea / Molar mass of urea

    = (0.05x g) / 60 g mol-1

Volume of solution in liters = Volume of solution in cm3 / 1000

    = (x / 1.2) / 1000 L

    Molarity = [(0.05x g) / 60 g mol-1] / [(x / 1.2) / 1000 L]

    = (0.05 × 1000) / (60 × 1.2)

    = 2.98 M

Therefore, the molarity of the urea solution is 2.98 M.
