Mutually exclusive events are those events that cannot occur at the same time. For example, if we toss a coin, the outcome can either be heads or tails, but not both at the same time. So, the events of getting a head and getting a tail are mutually exclusive.

Independent Events

Independent events are those events that do not affect each other's outcomes. For example, if we toss a coin twice, the outcome of the first toss will not affect the outcome of the second toss. So, the events of getting a head on the first toss and getting a head on the second toss are independent.

Relation between Mutually Exclusive and Independent Events

If two events A and B are mutually exclusive, it means that they cannot occur at the same time. So, the occurrence of one event will exclude the occurrence of the other event. In such a case, the events cannot be independent because the occurrence of one event affects the occurrence of the other event.

For example, if we toss a coin and roll a die, the events of getting a head and getting a 1 are mutually exclusive because they cannot occur at the same time. If we know that we have got a head, then the probability of getting a 1 on the die becomes zero. So, the events of getting a head and getting a 1 in this case are not independent.

and,if events are independent then the occurence of one coin will not affect the occurence of second. For example_ if we get head ,while tossing a coin, then getting a tail in second toss will not affect the occurence of head.

So,as they both are different things so if A and B are mutually exclusive then they can't be independent and if they both are independent then they can't be mutually exclusive.
