The value of a polynomial obtained on putting a particular value
of the variable is called the value of the polynomial.

The value of a polynomial p(x) at x= a(let) is denoted by p(a).
i)
 p(x) = 5x - 4x^2+ 3
On putting x=0 ,
p(0) = 5(0) - 4(0)^2 + 3
= 0 - 0 +3=3
= 3

ii)
(x) = 5x - 4x^2 + 3
On putting x= -1,
p(-1) = 5(-1) - 4(-1)^2+ 3
= -5 - 4(1) + 3
= -5-4+3= -9+3= -6
= -6

iii)
p(x) = 5x - 4x^2 + 3
On putting x=2
p(2) = 5(2) - 4(2)^2+ 3
= 10 – 16 + 3 = -6+3
= -3

Explanation:

Given polynomial:
The given polynomial is 5x - 4x^2 + 3.

Substitute x = -1:
Substitute x = -1 into the polynomial:
5(-1) - 4(-1)^2 + 3
= -5 - 4(1) + 3
= -5 - 4 + 3
= -6

Conclusion:
Therefore, the value of the polynomial 5x - 4x^2 + 3, when x = -1 is -6. So, option 'A' (-6) is the correct answer.

 Let p (x) = 5x – 4x2 + 3 …(i)
On putting x = -1 in Eq. (i), we get
p(-1) = 5(-1) -4(-1)2 + 3= - 5 - 4 + 3 = -6
