Verified Answer
The sum of the present ages of a father and his son is 60 years. Six y...
Let the present ages of son and father be x and (60 – x) years respectively.
Then, (60 – x) – 6 = 5(x – 6)
⇒ 54 – x = 5x – 30
⇒ 6x = 84
⇒ x = 14
∴ Son’s age after 6 years = (x + 6) = 20 years.

Given Information:
- The sum of the present ages of a father and his son is 60 years.
- Six years ago, father’s age was five times the age of the son.

Calculation:
Let the present age of the father be F years and the present age of the son be S years.
1. According to the given information, F + S = 60 ...(i)
2. Six years ago, the father's age was F - 6 years and the son's age was S - 6 years.
3. According to the second given information, F - 6 = 5(S - 6) ...(ii)
Now, we will solve equations (i) and (ii) to find the values of F and S.
Solving equations (i) and (ii):
From equation (i): F = 60 - S
Substitute F = 60 - S into equation (ii):
60 - S - 6 = 5(S - 6)
54 - S = 5S - 30
54 + 30 = 5S + S
84 = 6S
S = 14
Now, substitute S = 14 into equation (i):
F + 14 = 60
F = 60 - 14
F = 46

Answer:
- Present age of the son = 14 years
- After 6 years, son's age will be: 14 + 6 = 20 years
Therefore, the correct answer is option 'D', which is 20 years.
