Parachute Testing and Deaths

Introduction:

In 1962, American test pilot Colonel John Stapp died while testing a new parachute for the US Air Force. In 2003, Australian skydiver Adrian Nicholas died while testing a new parachute design that he had invented.

Causes:
The causes of these deaths vary. In some cases, the parachute failed to deploy properly, resulting in a fatal fall. In other cases, the tester misjudged the altitude or the wind conditions, leading to a fatal crash. Sometimes, the tester may have been inexperienced or overconfident, leading to a fatal mistake.
