Verified Answer
A stone of 1 kg is thrown with a velocity of 20 m s–1 across the...
Here, m = 1kg, = 20 ms-1v = 0, s = 50m, F = ?
From v2 - u2 = 2as
0 - (20)= 2a x 50 = 100a
a = -400/100
a = -4 ms-2
∴ F = ma
F = 1 (-4)
F = -4 N
Negative sign indicates that force of friction is opposing the motion of the ball.

Since the question is incomplete, I assume that the stone is thrown horizontally.

If the stone is thrown horizontally, it means that it has no vertical velocity component. Therefore, the velocity of the stone in the vertical direction is 0 m/s.

The velocity of the stone in the horizontal direction is given as 20 m/s.

Thus, the stone is thrown with a velocity of 20 m/s horizontally.
