Verified Answer
A boat cover row 12 km upstream in 4 hours and can cover the same dist...
Let the speed of boat = x km/hr
& the speed of stream = y km/hr
According to the question
⇒ 12/(x - y) = 4
⇒ x - y = 3      ----(1)
⇒ 12/(x + y) = 3
⇒ x + y = 4     ----(2)
From equation (1) and equation (2)
⇒ x = 3.5 and y = 0.5
So, speed of boat in still water is 3.5 km/h
