And minimum possible weight of the fifth student?

Let's call the weight of the fifth student "x".

Since the average weight of the 4 lightest students is 40 kg, the total weight of those 4 students is 4 * 40 = 160 kg.

Similarly, since the average weight of the 4 heaviest students is 45 kg, the total weight of those 4 students is 4 * 45 = 180 kg.

We want to find the difference between the maximum and minimum possible weight of the fifth student, which means we want to find the range of values that "x" could be.

The maximum possible weight of the fifth student would occur if they were heavier than all of the other students, so we can add up the total weight of all 5 students and subtract the weight of the 4 lightest students:

Total weight of 5 students = 4 * 40 + 4 * 45 = 320 kg
Maximum weight of fifth student = 320 - 160 = 160 kg

The minimum possible weight of the fifth student would occur if they were lighter than all of the other students, so we can subtract the weight of the 4 heaviest students from the total weight of all 5 students:

Total weight of 5 students = 4 * 40 + 4 * 45 = 320 kg
Minimum weight of fifth student = 320 - 180 = 140 kg

Therefore, the difference between the maximum and minimum possible weight of the fifth student is:

160 kg - 140 kg = 20 kg
