Verified Answer
In an examination, a student scores 4 marks for every correct answer a...
Let the number of questions attempted correctly be X and those attempted wrong be Y.
Given,
Total question attempted= 75
⇒ X + Y = 75       …………………(1)
Also total score is 125. Since 4 marks is awarded for every correct answer and 1 marks is lost for every wrong answer. Thus
 ⇒(X × 4) +(Y × (-1)) = 125
⇒ 4X – Y = 125       ………………….(2)
Adding (1) and (2) both sides, we get
⇒ 5X = 200
⇒ X = 40
Hence total number of questions attempted correctly is 40.

In an examination, a student scores 4 marks for every correct answer a...
Given information:
- The student scores 4 marks for every correct answer.
- The student loses 1 mark for every wrong answer.
- The student attempts all 75 questions.
- The student secures 125 marks.

To find:
The number of questions the student attempts correctly.

Let's assume:
Let the number of questions the student attempts correctly be x.

Calculating the number of questions the student attempts wrongly:
As the student attempts all 75 questions and the number of questions attempted correctly is x, the number of questions attempted wrongly can be calculated as (75 - x).

Calculating the total marks:
The student scores 4 marks for every correct answer, so the total marks obtained from the correct answers is 4x.
The student loses 1 mark for every wrong answer, so the total marks deducted from the wrong answers is (75 - x).
Therefore, the total marks obtained can be calculated as (4x - (75 - x)).

Given:
The student secures 125 marks.

Equation:
(4x - (75 - x)) = 125

Solving the equation:
4x - 75 + x = 125
5x - 75 = 125
5x = 200
x = 40

Conclusion:
The number of questions the student attempts correctly is 40. Therefore, option B is the correct answer.
