Given:

Volume of 0.4 M HCl = 30 cm3

Molarity of NaOH = 0.6 M

Let us assume that the volume of NaOH required to neutralize 30 cm3 of 0.4 M HCl is V cm3.

We can write the following equation based on the reaction between HCl and NaOH.

HCl + NaOH → NaCl + H2O

The balanced equation shows that 1 mole of HCl reacts with 1 mole of NaOH.
