Let the largest angle be 4x degrees.
Then, the second largest angle is 3x degrees.
And, the smallest angle is (1/2)*(4x) = 2x degrees.

The sum of all angles in a triangle is 180 degrees.
So, we have the equation:
4x + 3x + 2x = 180
9x = 180
x = 20

Therefore, the largest angle is 4x = 4*20 = 80 degrees.
And, the smallest angle is 2x = 2*20 = 40 degrees.

The difference between the smallest and largest angles is 80 - 40 = 40 degrees.

So, the correct answer is:
a) 30
