Given:
Height of water column, h = 80 m
Specific gravity of oil, SG = 0.8

To find:
Pressure equivalent to 80 m of water in meters of oil

Solution:

Pressure exerted by a fluid is given by:

P = ρgh

where,
P = pressure
ρ = density of fluid
g = acceleration due to gravity
h = height of fluid column

Density of oil can be calculated as:

ρoil = SG x ρwater

where,
ρoil = density of oil
SG = specific gravity of oil
ρwater = density of water

Density of water, ρwater = 1000 kg/m³

Density of oil,

ρoil = 0.8 x 1000 kg/m³
= 800 kg/m³

Pressure exerted by oil can be calculated as:

Poil = ρoilgh

Substituting the given values,

Poil = 800 kg/m³ x 9.81 m/s² x 80 m
= 627840 Pa

Converting pressure from pascals to meters of oil,

1 Pa = 0.001 m of oil

Therefore,

Pressure in meters of oil = Poil / 1000
= 627.84 / 1000
= 0.62784 m of oil

Rounding off to the nearest whole number,

Pressure in meters of oil equivalent to 80 m of water = 1 m

Therefore, the correct option is (c) 100.
