where R1, → resultant of load on left sid e of section Resultant of all loads (R)
= 10 + 26 + 24 = 60t

When 26t load crosses the section C, 

It means that maximum bending moment is obtained when 26t load is on the section.

Three wheel loads: 10t, 26t, and 24t
Distance between loads: 2m
Span of girder: 20m
Section for maximum bending moment: 8m from the left end

To find: Which load should be placed at the section for maximum bending moment?

Solution:
1. Calculation of reactions at supports:
Total weight of loads = 10t + 26t + 24t = 60t
∴ Reaction at each support = Total weight/2 = 30t
2. Calculation of position of loads:
Let the distance of the 10t load from the left support be x
∴ distance of 26t load from left support = x + 2
distance of 24t load from left support = x + 4 + 2 = x + 6
Total distance between the 10t load and the right support = (20 – x)
∴ Distance between the 26t and 24t loads = (20 – x) – (x + 2) = 18 – x
3. Calculation of Shear force and Bending Moment:
At x = 8m,
Shear Force = 30t (due to 10t load)
Bending Moment = 30t × 8m – 10t × 6m = 180t-m
At x = 8m,
Shear Force = 30t + 10t = 40t (due to 10t and 26t loads)
Bending Moment = 40t × 8m – 10t × 6m – 26t × 4m = 128t-m
At x = 8m,
Shear Force = 30t + 10t + 26t = 66t (due to all loads)
Bending Moment = 66t × 8m – 10t × 6m – 26t × 4m – 24t × 2m = 200t-m

Conclusion:
From the above calculations, it can be observed that the bending moment is maximum when the 26t load is placed at the section, i.e. option B is the correct answer.
