heat and its flow Related: Introduction to Heat and its effect?
Heat is a form of energy also known as thermal energy.
The degree of hotness or coldness of an object-TEMPERATURE
We decide the temperature of an object either by touching them or measuring them with thermometers.
Heat flows from a region of higher(hotter) temperature to a region of lower(colder) temperature i.e from a hotter object to
colder object. When the temperature of both the bodies or objects become same(equal), heat transfer or heat flow stops.
Heat can be transferred from one object to another by-Conduction, Convection or Radiation.
Heat can be converted to other forms of energy i.e heat energy to electric, thermal energy etc.
Heat when added to a substance becomes hot and when removed, the object becomes cold.
Ex:  When water boiled on stove it becomes hot and when it is taken away from heat, it becomes cold.
Matter or objects expand on heating and contract on cooling.

Introduction to Heat and its Effect

Heat is a form of energy that can be transferred from one object to another due to a difference in temperature. The flow of heat occurs when there is a temperature difference between two objects or regions. Understanding the concept of heat and its effect is crucial in various fields such as physics, chemistry, and engineering.

What is Heat?

Heat is the energy transferred between objects or systems due to a temperature difference. It is a form of energy that can be measured in units such as joules or calories. Heat can be transferred through conduction, convection, or radiation.

Effects of Heat

- Heating and cooling of substances: Heat can cause substances to expand when they are heated and contract when they are cooled.
- Change in state: Heat can also cause substances to change from one state to another, such as from solid to liquid or liquid to gas.
- Chemical reactions: Heat can also affect chemical reactions by providing the energy needed for the reaction to occur.

Heat Flow

Heat flows from a region of higher temperature to a region of lower temperature. This flow of heat can be quantified using the concept of heat transfer, which is governed by the laws of thermodynamics. Understanding how heat flows is essential in designing systems for heating, cooling, and energy transfer.

In conclusion, heat is a fundamental form of energy that plays a crucial role in various natural and man-made processes. Understanding the principles of heat and its effect is essential for solving practical problems in science and engineering.
