Ram in a joint venture with Shyam purchased goods costing Rs. 20,000 a...
Calculation of Cost Price:

Total cost of goods = Rs. 20,000
Freight paid by Ram = Rs. 1,000
Total cost of goods for Shyam = Rs. 21,000
Carriage paid by Shyam = Rs. 500
Total cost of goods for Shyam = Rs. 21,500
Total goods sold = Rs. 18,000
Remaining goods at cost price = Rs. 3,500

Calculation of Profit:

Total sales = Rs. 25,000
Total cost of goods sold = Rs. 18,000
Profit = Rs. 7,000

Calculation of Profit Share:

Profit share of Ram = Profit share of Shyam
Let the profit share be x
x + x = Rs. 7,000
2x = Rs. 7,000
x = Rs. 3,500

Amount to be paid by Shyam to Ram:

Shyam's cost price = Rs. 21,500
Shyam's profit share = Rs. 3,500
Total amount to be divided between Ram and Shyam = Rs. 25,000 (sales)
Ram's cost price = Total cost price - Shyam's cost price = Rs. 20,500
Ram's profit share = Rs. 3,500

Ram's total share = Rs. 20,500 (cost price) + Rs. 3,500 (profit share) = Rs. 24,000
Shyam's total share = Rs. 21,500 (cost price) + Rs. 3,500 (profit share) = Rs. 25,000

Amount to be paid by Shyam to Ram = Ram's total share - Ram's cost price = Rs. 24,000 - Rs. 20,500 = Rs. 3,500

Therefore, the correct answer is option C) Rs. 23,750.
