    -1.

    The crystal field stabilization energy (CFSE) of an octahedral complex is given by the formula:

    CFSE = -0.4 * Δo * n

    where Δo is the crystal field splitting energy and n is the number of electrons in the d orbitals of the central metal ion.

    For the octahedral [Ti(H2O)6]3+ complex, Ti3+ has 1 electron in the d orbitals, so n = 1.

    The crystal field splitting energy Δo for Ti3+ in an octahedral field is around 20,000 cm-1.

    Substituting these values in the formula, we get:

    CFSE = -0.4 * 20,000 * 1
    CFSE = -8,000

    However, CFSE is defined as a positive value, so we take the absolute value of -8,000, which is 8,000 cm-1.

    Therefore, the magnitude of CFSE of the octahedral [Ti(H2O)6]3+ complex is 8,000 cm-1 or 7680 cm-1 (rounded to the nearest ten).
