Explanation

An almost completely fossilized skeleton of ‘fish lizard’, a type of marine reptile that lived in the Jurassic-era, has been discovered for the first time in India from Kutch district of Gujarat. The skeleton was discovered by a team of Indo-German geologists near the Kaas hills of Bhuj town, in January 2016. At that time, it was believed to be fossil of a dinosaur. After a year-long study experts have concluded that the fossil was of ichthyosaur from the Jurassic era. It is the first to be found in India. It is 5.5 metre long.
