Dear Editor,
Coping with Peer Pressure in Today's Environment
I am writing to express my concern about the issue of peer pressure that students are facing in today's environment. Peer pressure is a social influence that can have both positive and negative effects on students, but it is often the negative aspect that is more prevalent and harmful. Here are some reasons why students are required to cope with a lot of peer pressure:
Reasons for Peer Pressure
1. Desire to fit in: Students often feel the need to fit in with their peers, which can lead them to engage in behaviors that they may not necessarily want to do.
2. Fear of rejection: Students also fear being rejected by their peers if they do not conform to the group's norms and values.
3. Social media: Social media has made it easier for students to compare themselves to others and feel pressure to conform to social expectations.
4. Negative influences: Students may be influenced by their peers who engage in risky or harmful behaviors, such as drug use or bullying.
Effects of Peer Pressure
Peer pressure can have a number of negative effects on students, including:
1. Low self-esteem: Students who feel pressure to conform to their peers' expectations may experience low self-esteem and feel insecure about themselves.
2. Academic problems: Students who are more concerned with fitting in with their peers may neglect their studies and suffer academically.
3. Mental health issues: Peer pressure can contribute to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
4. Risky behavior: Students who succumb to peer pressure may engage in risky or harmful behaviors that can have negative consequences.
Conclusion
In conclusion, peer pressure is a serious issue that students face in today's environment. It is important for parents, educators, and students themselves to recognize the negative effects of peer pressure and work together to develop strategies for coping with it. By promoting positive self-esteem, encouraging healthy relationships, and providing support for students, we can help them navigate the challenges of peer pressure and lead happier, healthier lives.

Subject: Increase in the amount of stress faced by the students
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw your attention toward the stress faced by the students appearing for exams and the aftermath of it.
As exams are nearing, the stress level in a candidate keeps on increasing. On top of that, the parents and family members have a high expectation from the student pushing him or her into deep pressure. The faculty of the school/college and the friend circle also expects a lot from them. Due to all of this constant pressure, the students are unable to concentrate on the main topic and their mind keeps on drifting off to the outcomes of their exams and the reaction of the people fit hey scored less than the expectations.
As these activities are common every year in a student's life before appearing for an exam, The stress level also pushes them down to extreme measures such as self-harm and unfortunately, suicide. Usually, high expectations from the family lead to constant nagging about perfection and comparison which the other people. If the marks are not as high as expected it pushes the student into depression and anxiety.
The people around the student should know more and should stop "Expecting" and should start "Encouraging". The student must be always reminded that no matter what the result is he/she should always put in all of their efforts. Encouraging talks between the family and no comparison with the neighbor's son will eventually lead to a calm mind of the candidate appearing for the exam and he/she then has hopes of scoring better.
I hope that this problem will be bought into notice an article regarding this topic will be published in your newspaper
yout sincerly
