what is density? how to arrange the following in order of increasing d...
Density:

Density is defined as the amount of mass per unit volume of a substance. It is denoted by the symbol 'ρ' and is measured in kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m³) or grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³).

Arranging in order of increasing density:

Air < cotton="" />< chalk="" />< water="" />< honey="" />< exhaust="" from="" chimney="" />< />

State of density for solid, liquid and gas:

The state of matter affects the density of a substance. The density of a solid is usually higher than that of a liquid, which in turn is higher than that of a gas.

Solid: In a solid, the particles are closely packed together, resulting in a high density. The density of solids increases with increasing pressure and decreasing temperature.

Liquid: In a liquid, the particles are not as closely packed together as in a solid, resulting in a lower density. The density of liquids also increases with increasing pressure and decreasing temperature.

Gas: In a gas, the particles are far apart from each other, resulting in a very low density. The density of gases decreases with increasing pressure and increasing temperature.

In conclusion, density is a fundamental property of matter that can be used to identify substances and predict their behavior. The state of matter affects the density of a substance, with solids having the highest density, followed by liquids and then gases.

what is density? how to arrange the following in order of increasing d...
Density is defined as mass per unit volume of a substance.SI.unit of density is kilogram per cubic metre. This is the arrangement of these things in the increasing order as follows
Air
Exhaust from chimneys
cotton
Water
Honey
chalk
iron
Air and exhaust coming out from chimneys are gases due to which they have least density whereas exhaust is less dense than air.
cotton is a porous solid and air can be trapped in solid due to which it has volume but is less dense than water.

Water is less dense than honey due to the volume which is less.
chalk and iron being solids have high density. higher the volume and mass, more the density.
Thus this is the increasing order according to their density.
Hope it will help
