Introduction
Natural resources are the resources that are obtained from the environment, and they are broadly classified as renewable resources and non-renewable resources. The classification of natural resources is based on certain factors.

Renewable Resources
Renewable resources are natural resources that can be replenished or regenerated over time. These resources are not depleted when they are used. Renewable resources include solar energy, wind energy, water, timber, and biomass. The classification of natural resources as renewable resources is based on the following factors:

Replenishment
Renewable resources can be replenished naturally over time. For example, timber can be replenished by planting new trees after harvesting the old ones. Similarly, water is replenished through the water cycle.

Regeneration
Renewable resources can also be regenerated over time. For example, biomass can be regenerated by growing new crops after harvesting the old ones. Similarly, solar energy and wind energy can be regenerated through natural processes.

Sustainability
Renewable resources are sustainable because they can be used without depleting them. This means that they can be used for a long time without running out.

Non-Renewable Resources
Non-renewable resources are natural resources that cannot be replenished or regenerated over time. These resources are depleted when they are used. Non-renewable resources include fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas. The classification of natural resources as non-renewable resources is based on the following factors:

Limited Supply
Non-renewable resources have a limited supply. Once they are used up, they cannot be replenished or regenerated. For example, once oil is extracted from the ground, it cannot be replenished.

Depletion
Non-renewable resources are depleted when they are used. This means that they cannot be used for a long time without running out.

Conclusion
In conclusion, natural resources are broadly classified as renewable resources and non-renewable resources based on certain factors. Renewable resources can be replenished or regenerated over time, while non-renewable resources cannot. Understanding the classification of natural resources is important in managing them sustainably for the future.

On the basis of time taken for renewability as petroleum can be renewed but it takes millions of years to renew it and solar energy is a renewable resource but sun will not able to provide this after millions or trillions of years later but for now it is renewable as we can take unlimited energy from sun .
