Of the adult population in Nagpur, 45% of men and 25% of women are mar...
Solution:

Given:

- 45% of men are married
- 25% of women are married

To find:

- Percentage of the total population of adults that are married

Assumptions:

- No man marries more than one woman and vice versa.

Approach:

- Let the total adult population be 100.
- Let the number of men be 'm' and the number of women be 'w'.
- Then, we have m + w = 100.
- Let the percentage of married men be 'x' and the percentage of married women be 'y'.
- Then, we have:

- x% of m = (x/100)m = number of married men
- y% of w = (y/100)w = number of married women

- We need to find the percentage of the total population that is married. Let this be 'z'.
- Then, we have:

- z% of 100 = (number of married men + number of married women)/100

- Substituting the values, we get:

- z% of 100 = [(x/100)m + (y/100)w]/100

- Now, we can use the fact that m + w = 100 to express m and w in terms of one variable. Let's express m in terms of w:

- m + w = 100
- m = 100 - w

- Substituting this value in the equation for the number of married men, we get:

- (x/100)m = (x/100)(100 - w) = (x/100)100 - (x/100)w = x - (x/100)w

- Similarly, substituting the value of m in the equation for the number of married women, we get:

- (y/100)w = (y/100)(100 - m) = (y/100)w - (y/100)100 = y - (y/100)w

- Substituting these values in the equation for z, we get:

- z% of 100 = [(x - (x/100)w) + (y - (y/100)w)]/100
- z = (x + y - (x + y)/100*w)

- Now, we can substitute the given values of x and y to get the final answer for z.

Answer:

- Percentage of the total population that is married = z
- z = (45 + 25 - (45 + 25)/100*w) = 65 - 0.7w

- Since w is between 0 and 100, z is between 65 (when w = 0) and 0 (when w = 100).
- Therefore, we cannot determine the exact value of z without knowing the value of w.
- However, we can say that z is a decreasing function of w, which means that as the percentage of women in the population increases, the percentage of married adults in the population decreases.

Of the adult population in Nagpur, 45% of men and 25% of women are mar...
Let population of men = 100
45% are married i.e 45 men are married

each men is married to 1 women.
therefore 45 men married to 45 women.

25% women are married
I.e 25% of x is 45. therefore x = 45*4 = 180.

Total population = 100+180 = 280
Total married = 45+45 = 90 (assuming each man married to 1 woman, as mentioned)

what % of 280 is 90.
ie. 32.14% (approx.)

Hence 32.14% is correct answer
