A 4 F capacitor is given 20 C charge and is connected with an uncharge...
Given: Capacitance of first capacitor (C1) = 4 F, Charge on C1 (q1) = 20 C, Capacitance of second capacitor (C2) = 2 F

Charging of Capacitors

When the switch S is closed, the charge from capacitor C1 starts flowing to C2 until the potential across both capacitors becomes equal. Let the potential across C1 and C2 be V1 and V2 respectively.

Charge on C2

The charge on C2 can be calculated using the formula:

q2 = C2 * V2

As the potential across both capacitors is the same, we can write:

q1 = C1 * V1
V1 = q1/C1
V2 = q2/C2

Substituting the values of V1 and V2, we get:

q2 = C2 * (q1/C1)

q2 = (2/4) * 20

q2 = 10 C

Charge flown through the battery

The charge flown through the battery can be calculated as follows:

q = q1 - q2

q = 20 - 10

q = 10 C

Therefore, the charge flown through the battery is 10 C, and the correct option is (b).

Work done by the battery

The work done by the battery can be calculated using the formula:

W = q * V

Where q is the charge flown through the battery and V is the potential difference across the battery.

The potential difference across the battery can be calculated as follows:

V = V1 - V2

V = (q1/C1) - (q2/C2)

Substituting the values of q1 and q2, we get:

V = (20/4) - (10/2)

V = 2.5 V

Substituting the values of q and V, we get:

W = 10 * 2.5

W = 25 J

Therefore, the work done by the battery is 25 J, and the correct option is (c).
