= Length of 1 main scale division / No. of divisions of Vernier scale
= 0.5 ° / 30
= 0.5 × 60 min / 30
= 1 min
30 VSD = 29 MSD
Least Count
= Length of 1 main scale division / No. of divisions of Vernier scale
= 0.5 ° / 30
= 0.5 × 60 min / 30
= 1 min
NOTE:to convert degree into minute multiply it with 60 and for seconds multiply it with 3600.
