A fraction is any number of the form a/b where both “a” and “b” are whole numbers and b≠0. On the other hand, a rational number is a number which is in the form of p/q where both “p” and “q” are integers and q≠0.

Any number r that can be expressed in the form of P/Q, where P and Q are integers and Q is not equal to 0 is called a rational number. the collection of rational numbers is denoted by Q. Rational comes from the word Ratio, while Q comes from the word Quotient.

Remarks:- every natural number is a rational number, as we can write 1 = 1/1, 2 = 2/1, and so on.

2. Zero (0) is a rational number , as we can write 0 = o/1

3. every integer is a rational number, as we can write 4= 4/1 and -4 = -4/1 and so on.

while in the case of Fraction.

A number that can be expressed in the form of P/Q and where Q is not equal to zero is called a fraction. i.e the denominator of the fraction is not negative i.e fraction is not in the form of integers ( negative),
