what is hybridization of 《ch3 》and 《cf3》
Most Upvoted Answer
what is hybridization of 《ch3 》and 《cf3》
Hybridization of CH3

The hybridization of CH3 is sp3 because it has four electron groups around the central carbon atom. These electron groups consist of the three hydrogen atoms and one lone pair of electrons on the carbon atom. The hybridization of the carbon atom allows it to form four bonds, which is the maximum number of bonds for an atom with four electron groups. This hybridization is commonly observed in organic compounds.

Hybridization of CF3

The hybridization of CF3 is sp3d because it has five electron groups around the central carbon atom. These electron groups consist of the three fluorine atoms and two lone pairs of electrons on the carbon atom. The hybridization of the carbon atom allows it to form five bonds, which is the maximum number of bonds for an atom with five electron groups. This hybridization is commonly observed in organofluorine compounds.

Comparison of CH3 and CF3 Hybridization

  • CH3 has four electron groups, while CF3 has five electron groups

  • CH3 has sp3 hybridization, while CF3 has sp3d hybridization

  • CH3 can form four bonds, while CF3 can form five bonds

  • CH3 is commonly observed in organic compounds, while CF3 is commonly observed in organofluorine compounds

Conclusion

The hybridization of an atom is determined by the number of electron groups around it. In the case of CH3 and CF3, the hybridization is sp3 and sp3d, respectively. These hybridizations allow the carbon atoms to form the maximum number of bonds for their respective electron groups.

what is hybridization of 《ch3 》and 《cf3》
CF3= sp3 hybridization In methyl free radical the hybridization is sp2 because it has 3 bond pairs and one unpaired electron which is very restive so in hybridization it is not included and 3bond pair are present soon goes with S and other 2 with p. In trifloro methyl radical hybridization is sp3 because F is present which is very electronegative element so it attracts an unpaired electron towards itself and add it in hybridization due to which hybridization get shift from sp2 to sp3.
