There are seven different houses in a row which use different building materials viz. Mud, Limestone, Straw, Wood, Concrete, Glass and Steel, not necessarily in the same order. The Limestone house has fewer houses on its left than on its right. The Glass house is to the immediate right of the Steel house and neither of these houses is at the extreme end of the row. The Mud house and the Straw house have exactly two houses between them but neither of them is adjacent to the Limestone house. The Wood house is third to the right of the Glass house. Which house is to the immediate right of the Concrete house?
  • a)
    Steel house
  • b)
    Limestone house
  • c)
    Wood House
  • d)
Either Mud house or the Straw house
  • e)
    None of the above
Correct answer is option 'C'. Can you explain this answer?

There are seven different houses in a row which use different building...
Solution: Let the houses be numbered 1 to 7, from left to right.
Since the Limestone house has fewer houses on its left than on its right, the Limestone house can be numbered 1,2 or 3.
Now, the Glass house is to the immediate right of the Steel house and the Wood House is third to the right of the Glass House.
Thus, their arrangement is Steel G la s s ____ Wood. This gives a group of 5 houses.
Since neither the Steel house nor the Glass house is at the ends, the Steel house is either house number 2 or 3.
Case 1: Steel House = 2 Thus, the arrangement is:__Steel Glass_____Wood__ So, the Limestone house is house number 1.
Since there are two houses between the Mud house and Straw house, they have to be house numbers 4 and 7 (in no specific order).
So, house number 5 is the Concrete house.
So, the arrangement becomes: Limestone Steel Glass Mud/Straw.
Concrete Wood Straw/Mud
In this case, the Wood house is to the immediate right of the Concrete house.
Case 2: Steel House = 3 Thus, the arrangement i s ____ Steel G la s s _____ Wood Here, Limestone can be house number 1 or 2.
There are two houses between the Mud house and Straw house.
The Limsetone house cannot be house number 2 as it becomes impossible to have two houses between the Mud and Straw house in this case.
If the Limestone house is house number 1, the Mud and Straw houses become house numbers 2 and 5 (in no specific order). However, this violates the condition that neither of these houses is next to the Limestone house.
So, the case that the Steel hosue corresponds to house number 3 is invalid.
Hence, the Wood house is to the immediate right of the Concrete house. Hence, option 3.

There are seven different houses in a row which use different building...
Given Information:
- There are seven different houses in a row.
- The houses use different building materials: Mud, Limestone, Straw, Wood, Concrete, Glass, and Steel.
- The Limestone house has fewer houses on its left than on its right.
- The Glass house is to the immediate right of the Steel house, and neither of these houses is at the extreme end of the row.
- The Mud house and the Straw house have exactly two houses between them, but neither of them is adjacent to the Limestone house.
- The Wood house is third to the right of the Glass house.

Solution:
To solve this question, we'll use a step-by-step approach and analyze the given information.

Step 1:
Based on the given information, we can deduce the following:
- The Limestone house has fewer houses on its left than on its right.
- The Glass house is to the immediate right of the Steel house, and neither of these houses is at the extreme end of the row.

Step 2:
Let's consider the possible positions of the Limestone house in the row:
1. Limestone house is in the 2nd position: In this case, the house to the left of the Limestone house can only be the Mud house or the Straw house. However, the Mud house and the Straw house have exactly two houses between them and are not adjacent to the Limestone house. Therefore, this case is not valid.
2. Limestone house is in the 3rd position: In this case, the house to the left of the Limestone house can only be the Mud house or the Straw house. However, the Mud house and the Straw house have exactly two houses between them and are not adjacent to the Limestone house. Therefore, this case is not valid.
3. Limestone house is in the 4th position: In this case, the house to the left of the Limestone house can only be the Mud house or the Straw house. However, the Mud house and the Straw house have exactly two houses between them and are not adjacent to the Limestone house. Therefore, this case is not valid.
4. Limestone house is in the 5th position: In this case, the house to the left of the Limestone house can only be the Mud house or the Straw house. However, the Mud house and the Straw house have exactly two houses between them and are not adjacent to the Limestone house. Therefore, this case is not valid.
5. Limestone house is in the 6th position: In this case, the house to the left of the Limestone house can only be the Mud house or the Straw house. However, the Mud house and the Straw house have exactly two houses between them and are not adjacent to the Limestone house. Therefore, this case is not valid.
6. Limestone house is in the 7th position: In this case, the house to the left of the Limestone house can only be the Mud house or the Straw house. However, the Mud house and the Straw house have exactly two houses between them and are not adjacent to the Limestone house. Therefore, this case is not valid.

From the above analysis, we can conclude that the Limestone house cannot be in any position in the row.

Let's consider the possible
